Jammu & Kashmir Teacher Eligibility Test (JKTET)

JKTET.in is the official information portal for the Jammu and Kashmir Teacher Eligibility Test – a Union Territory-level examination conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates seeking appointment as teachers in schools across Jammu and Kashmir.

About the Test

The Teacher Eligibility Test was introduced nationally under the framework of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, and the guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), to ensure that only candidates who meet a minimum, verified standard of subject knowledge and pedagogical skill enter the teaching profession. JKTET is the Jammu and Kashmir–specific implementation of this mandate, and qualifying it is a mandatory eligibility criterion for teacher recruitment in Government and recognised schools across the Union Territory.

Who Conducts It

JKTET is conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s School Education Department. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), functioning alongside the State School Standards Authority (SSSA), has been designated as the Nodal Agency responsible for organising and monitoring the examination process, in accordance with the relevant Government Orders issued from time to time.
